Deflagration (in-line, horizontal) flame arrester - Safevent
FLAME ARRESTER: DEFLAGRATION (END-OF-LINE)
DESCRIPTION
SPECIFICATIONS

Flame arrester, type Deflagration (in-line, horizontal) prevent flames from entering openings in pipelines and vessels that emit flammable gasses and traveling back through the system. It contains a flame element designed to be three to four time larger than the diameter of the pipe in which it is installed. The flame element is asselbmed between two flanged reducing spools an consists of rolls of crimped stainless steel that form passageways for gasses but retain flames. The size of these passages determines the level of protection the flame element offers and type, Deflagration (in-line, horizontal) has a MESG (Maximum Experimental Safe Gap) as standard. This makes it suitable for gas group IIB and IIA.

During normal operation, this flame arrester allows flow in both directions, but if a fire occurs outside the system and ignites the emitted gas, the flame arrester will extinguish the leading fire by absorbing and dispersing the heat as it passes through the flame element.

Flame arrester type, Deflagration (in-line, horizontal) is suitable for extinguishing subsonic flames that are traveling with the speed of sound. It should be installed close to potential ignition sources and in a horizontal plane.
